Effective July 1, 2017, California employers are barred from considering non-felony convictions for possession of marijuana if the conviction is 2 or more years old.

A non-felony conviction is defined as a misdemeanor or lower.

Thus, S2Verify must remove non-felony convictions for marijuana possession from any California resident’s report if the conviction is 2+ years old.

Additionally, employers are prohibited from seeking information about convictions matching this criteria from a third party.
